Headbands and barrettes

I just realized that I never showed you the finished hair things I wore to the walk. I ended up not wearing the striped bows, but I used some of the extra ribbon in my hair clip.

The hair clip used 7 different ribbons: 7/8" pink and white stripe, 3/8" pink, 3/8" tutti frutti, 3/8" baby pink, 3/8" old rose, 3/8"white and 7/8" white. I wore it the first and last day. I also added some little rhinestones I had in my scrapbook supplies to give it a bit of sparkle.

I had two headband and wore the flowers for part of the first day and part of the second. It was a very simple project with two fabric flowers from my stash sewn onto a pice of 1.5" ribbon. And I wore the woven headband the rest of the second day. The ribbons on it were white, tutti frutti and I think old rose

All of the ribbon (except the 1.5") came from The Ribbon Retreat.

Bows and clips

Have a few other projects in the works, but these are the two finished ones I have to share at the moment! Er, well, the bows aren't 100% done I still need to attach them to hair ties. But what can I do? Other than find my white hair ties...I'm planning on wearing them one day during the 3-Day for the Cure. I'm thinking about making some korker bows (the curly puffy ones!) in different shades of pink for one of the days. Any ideas for the third day? I have nothing against insanely crazy or ridiculous bows/hair accessories!

The clips I am planning on giving them to my baby cousin. Of course I may wait until her first birthday and keep adding on to the collection so she has tons! I'm also working on a ruffle onesie for when she is 1 or when she hits the 12 month clothing mark. Whichever comes first.

Have a great day!

Ribbon!

Half a pound of ribbon next to Tangie
I got more ribbon right before I moved from The Ribbon Retreat and finally got around to organizing it so I can show you. The above picture was quickly snapped after I dumped it out to see what I got and then quickly shoved back into the bag until last night. I got one of the small grab bags and LOVE it. It was really cheep due to it being one of the sweet deals of the week when I ordered it. So much ribbon goodness for more bows!

I think Em bear has gone into hiding at the though of having to be a bow model again.

New crafty addiction

Because one can never have enough crafty addictions right? And an excuse for more pretties (technical therm that is) in the form of ribbon? Sign me and well, just give me the ribbon and let me play with it.

Anywho, I recently stumbled upon The Ribbon Retreat and holy crow I am in love. Since freshman year of high school I have constantly, er save the first two years of college, been doing activities that require having my hair up and there are only so many very quick hair styles that I have come to use. Anyway the way I did my hair also needed to be possible for me to do while I was half asleep at 5:45 in the morning. I don't function in the morning very well and by that I mean I am a zombie, like the very slow moving mindless zombie. Pony tails and buns were the got to styles, but they get really boring very quickly and fun hair ribbons always seem to cost an arm and a leg. Had I found The Ribbon Retreat earlier that would have been amazing, but as it is I have lots to catch up on and try out.

So I got the Tricks of the Trade instruction which included the bow maker and some ribbon mixes. More specifically the Sky's the Limit and the Carribean (their spelling not mine) Smoothie mixes. I love the colors in both and the convenience of having already matched ribbon mixes and I foresee many more will be purchased in the future along with a ridiculous amount of ribbon to play with. Here are my first bows I made in the order I made them. And maybe it is just me, but when instructions (or people for that matter) tell me that I shouldn't attempt something for such and such reason I'm going to try it any way. And if you say I should do it this way to make it easier, well it kind of seems like a challenge to me.

And all of them together

I have yet to finish the centers on the bows and I need to trim some of the ribbon ends and seal them.
